Catherine Lu is a master's student in the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering at MIT. As an undergraduate, she majored in environmental engineering with a minor in computer science at MIT, where she developed an interest in water resources and systems, habitat restoration, and environmental justice. Currently, she is working with Professor Dara Entekhabi on modeling and predicting droughts in Africa using satellite Soil Moisture Active Passive (SMAP) data. Outside of her studies, she enjoys soccer, painting, and rock climbing.
