Desirée Plata is the School of Engineering Distinguished Climate and Energy Professor in MIT’s Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering and Associate Dean of Engineering. Her research uses environmental chemistry to design more sustainable industrial processes and materials, with emphasis on clean energy technologies, pollutant fate and transformation, and environmental cleanup. She directs MIT’s Climate and Sustainability Consortium, and the MIT Methane Network, and co-directs the NIEHS MIT Superfund Research Program.
