Funded Researchers
Matt Shoulders is a professor in the Department of Chemistry at MIT and an associate member of the Broad Institute. His research focuses on understanding how cells fold complex proteins and developing new evolution-based biotechnologies. After undergraduate studies in chemistry at Virginia Tech, Matt received his PhD in Chemistry from the University of Wisconsin–Madison and performed postdoctoral research at Scripps Research Institute. He is a recipient of an NIH Director’s New Innovator Award, an NSF CAREER Award, and the Smith Family Award for Excellence in Biomedical Research. He is also an American Cancer Society Research Scholar and a Camille Dreyfus Teacher-Scholar. At MIT, Matt has received the MacVicar Faculty Fellowship for undergraduate education and the Committed to Caring Award for graduate student mentorship.
