Jaron Porciello

Jaron Porciello, PhD, is an expert in food security and agricultural development, currently serving as the Global Director of Evidence and Policy at CABI, an international not-for-profit organization dedicated to solving problems in agriculture and the environment. Prior to joining CABI, Porciello spent 15 years on the faculty at Cornell University in International Agriculture and Rural Development.

She is also the co-founder and Director of the Juno Evidence Alliance, which promotes evidence-informed decision-making in agriculture, food systems, and climate resilience through multi-stakeholder partnership that shape policy and practice. Juno also provides training and mentorship to practitioners and researchers worldwide, empowering them to use data and research to inform evidence informed decision making. 

Porciello has been at the forefront of applying artificial intelligence and machine learning for textual analysis well before these tools became mainstream. In 2021, she founded a startup that helps governments and non-profits access vital data science resources. Her work has earned recognition from the publishing industry, United Nations agencies, and the global philanthropic community. Based in New York, she remains active in local food security initiatives and leads after-school programs for Girls Who Code.
