Janelle Knox-Hayes

Janelle Knox-Hayes is the Lister Brothers Professor of Economic Geography and Planning at MIT, with a visiting research fellowship at Oxford's Smith School of Enterprise and the Environment. Her research explores the governance of social and environmental systems under globalization, focusing on the interplay between financial markets and environmental systems and decision-making in uncertain socio-economic conditions. Her recent work investigates how social values influence sustainable development. Knox-Hayes has received an SSRC Abe Fellowship and a Fulbright Fellowship. Previously, she taught at Georgia Tech and has authored numerous peer-reviewed publications. She completed her education at the University of Oxford and the University of Colorado Boulder.
