Avery Plachcinski

Avery Plachcinski is serving as the Interim Communications and Program Manager at J-WAFS through Spring 2027. In this role, Avery coordinates grant programming and leads the J-WAFS communication strategy through the development of key messaging, marketing materials, and outreach campaigns that highlight research opportunities and impact. She works with other departments, labs, centers, and initiatives across MIT to collaborate on shared marketing and communication opportunities.

Avery previously served as the Communications and Project Assistant at J-WAFS, as well as a Graduate Education Program Assistant at MIT Energy Initiative, through the Northeastern University cooperative education program. At Northeastern, she earned a BA in Environmental Studies with a concentration in Environmental Ethics and Social Justice. She is returning to J-WAFS after spending time managing a local farm store in Boston. When she’s not working, she enjoys taking part in farm community events, running and biking around the city, and trying new recipes that feature seasonal produce.
