In observance of World Food Day, we’re shining a spotlight on J-WAFS 2023-2024 Fellow for Water and Food Solutions Jie Yun, a PhD student in the MIT Civil and Environmental Engineering department, who is studying genetic improvement in crops. In a research project with David Des Marais and Caroline Uhler, Yun focuses on genotype-by-environment interaction (GxE), which is the observation that plant varieties respond to environmental changes like drought differently.
