News J-WAFS fellow, Zijay Tang awarded Lemelson-MIT Prize for development of living water filters

Zijay Tang was awarded for his research developing biologically-inspired living materials that solve critical water challenges, including his kombucha-made water filter.

J-WAFS Fellow, Zijay Tang, recently became the Graduate Winner of his Lemelson-MIT category, "Eat it!" Zijay has developed a safe, scalable, and low cost technique for growing living membranes that filter pollutants from water.
