This talk will examine how alternative proteins may help solve some of the world’s most pressing food problems, the current state of the alternative protein industry, and how institutions like MIT can help advance the development of alternative proteins. Friedrich will describe the industry’s current scientific and market challenges, the next phases of product development and policy, and prospects for growth in developing countries. The talk will close with practical guidance for the MIT community on how to get involved and a Q&A with the audience.
