World Water Day is March 22, 2024

World Water Day is a global observance dedicated to highlighting the importance of freshwater and advocating for the sustainable management of freshwater resources. Initiated by the United Nations (UN) in 1993, this day serves as a platform for raising awareness about water-related issues, encouraging actions to address the world water crisis, and improving access to clean water and sanitation for all. Every year, UN-Water — the UN’s coordination mechanism on water and sanitation — sets the theme for World Water Day. In 2024, the theme of World Water Day is ‘Leveraging water for peace,’ underscoring the fact that when we unite around water and use water for peace, we build the foundations for a more stable and prosperous tomorrow.
