Elia Knieriemen

Elia Knieriemen is the communications and project assistant for the Adbul Latif Jameel Water and Food Systems Lab (J-WAFS) at MIT. Elia assists in the creation and dissemination of communications produced by J-WAFS, assists in research, data gathering and reporting, and provides other administrative support for the program.

Elia joined J-WAFS in July 2018 through the Northeastern University co-op program. She is currently a student at Northeastern studying international affairs, with a focus on food sustainability, health and equity. Before joining J-WAFS, Elia was a co-op at Northeastern University’s Green Office Certification Program. In this position, she created, launched, and successfully ran a program to certify the sustainability and environmental impact of employees' behaviors within their offices. Elia has also served as campus ambassador for the startup Food For All, which tackles food waste in Boston and Cambridge. Beyond MIT, Elia enjoys spending time outside, being active, connecting with friends, and exploring new recipes and cooking techniques.
